One of the co-founders of the famous ice cream brand Ben & Jerry's has announced how corporate owner the multinational conglomerate prevented the launch of an innovative Palestine-themed frozen dessert product.

Ben Cohen, who co-founded the company alongside his partner, announced that he plans to independently develop this new flavor as part of a personal collection highlighting issues Ben & Jerry's has been barred from addressing publicly.

Ongoing Conflict Between Founders versus Parent Company

This latest announcement escalates the ongoing conflict between the internationally recognized ice cream maker with Unilever, the British packaged goods corporation that has owned the ice cream brand since 2000.

Both founders have asserted how Unilever and their ice cream division the Magnum brand unlawfully blocked their company against "honouring its social mission".

The Fruit Sorbet as a Symbol of Support

The entrepreneur revealed via social media how he is creating an innovative watermelon-based frozen dessert, asking for consumer ideas regarding the product's name and additional components.

“I'm doing what they were prevented from doing,” the founder commented from his kitchen. “I'm creating a watermelon-flavored frozen dessert that calls for permanent peace for Palestinians and calls for repairing the damage that occurred in the region.”

The watermelon has emerged as an emblem of solidarity with Palestinians because of its coloration, that mirror the colors in the Palestinian flag – the distinctive four-color pattern.

Historical Social Engagement plus Current Changes

Several years ago, the ice cream company ceased sales of their merchandise in territories under Israeli control, resulting in Unilever transferring their Israel business over to an Israeli distributor, thereby permitting ongoing distribution within disputed territories.

The new dessert series is being developed under Ben's Best, the socially conscious ice cream brand that was first created several years back to support former political contender Bernie Sanders via the flavor "Bernie's Return".

Leadership Shifts and Upcoming Intentions

Mr. Cohen revealed that he will develop other frozen dessert varieties focusing on concerns which the company was silenced from addressing publicly due to corporate restrictions.

This development comes after co-founder Mr. Greenfield stepped down from the company in September, following decades of involvement, citing concerns regarding how the company's autonomy had been undermined following Unilever's decision to restrict its social activism.

At that time, Ben Cohen remarked that "Jerry has a really big heart and this conflict with our parent company was breaking it."

"My heart compels me to continue to work inside the company to advocate for corporate autonomy ensuring that the company can achieve the social mission, the values which established its foundation and has maintained for decades," he explained to journalists.
