Shock as Renowned South African DJ Killed in the Heart of Johannesburg.
A renowned South African radio and club DJ has been murdered in the country's largest city Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a country struggling with persistent crime.
Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was attacked in the central business district on a Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities reported the forty-year-old entertainer was confronted by three suspects, with one shot at him before fleeing on foot.
The reason behind the shooting has not been established and no one has been arrested have taken place, as per the official statement.
Details of the Attack
Authorities indicated that Stock was attacked as he was departing from a premises near the Carlton Centre.
He had spent several hours at the site supervising the setup of safety equipment, which had been reportedly taken over by unidentified individuals, as per local media.
"It is alleged the man was approached by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they began shooting at him before escaping on foot," an official report stated.
Security camera video showed a suspect with dreadlocked hair and wearing what appeared to be a security uniform shooting on Stock before fleeing.
The DJ sought to escape after he was shot but succumbed to his injuries on the opposite side of the road.
Officials noted that Stock had an gun that was not fired and nothing was taken during the assault.
