LA Battles Record-Breaking High Temperatures Just Days After Severe Winter Weather.
Following a week of heavy downpours that led to inundation across sections of the city, the City of Angels is now seeing unusually high weather for the end of February.
All-Time High Temperatures
On Friday midday, the mercury reached ninety-one degrees Fahrenheit in the city center, as reported by weather officials. This easily surpasses the prior high for February 27th, which was 31 degrees Celsius (88 Fahrenheit) and was set in 2025.
"Unusually high temperatures" were highlighted on official charts for the region.
Safety Warnings
Authorities cautioned that Friday's weather posed an "increased danger for heat illness" for those at risk. Their recommendations featured:
- Staying hydrated.
- Avoiding outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.
- Not leaving anyone unattended in a hot car.
A Dramatic Reversal
This dramatic increase in mercury follows closely after a massive storm system that pummeled the state earlier in the week. That storm delivered thunderstorms, high winds, and heavy snow to higher elevations, causing mudslide risks for millions residents.

Weekend Outlook
Forecasters predict cooler conditions will arrive. The heat were forecast to drop to around 61°F (16°C) in central Los Angeles by overnight.
Several cities that reached the 90-degree mark featured Burbank, Woodland Hills, and Long Beach. Additionally, Oxnard, Westwood, Camarillo, and Santa Maria were forecast to reach the high 80s.
In the coming days, downtown Los Angeles can see readings in the eighties, with mid-70s temperatures on tap for the following week.
