Her Royal Highness's Annual Festive Musical Celebration Honours Charity Helpers

Her Royal Highness has organised her yearly festive musical service at Westminster Abbey, with guests including members of the royal family, famous faces, and community champions who have helped their communities.

The large audience will enjoy a selection of festive songs, musical performances, and spoken word pieces from actors such as Chiwetel Ejiofor and Kate Winslet.

Focusing on Kindness and Compassion

The central message of the service, held in the candle-lit Abbey on the afternoon, is kindness and showing love to others.

In the audience are Anna and Jonathan Cordiner, whose child passed away from a tumour, and who set up a charity, Kayleigh's Wee Stars, to support families who have a terminally ill child.

"The dedication, empathy, and kindness you show, often without fanfare or recognition, and without any expectation or recognition, make an profound impact to the well-being of people," the Princess expressed in a note prior to the festive gathering.

A Steady Comeback

The Princess of Wales is continuing her own measured re-emergence to official duties subsequent to her illness and medical care, last month delivering her major oration since 2023, in which she reflected on recognising the "discreet, frequently unseen labour of caregivers".

Performance and Potential

Those coming to the Abbey will be entertained by budding artists supported by the charitable trust Future Talent, established in part by the former royal to increase availability of instrumental training.

Trumpeter Carys Wood, 18, who performs on the trumpet and is from southwest Wales, has been supported by the charity, with funding assisting with equipment, teaching, and travel fees - and she said it was "incredible" to be performing at the concert.

"Musical pursuits are frequently pricey," the musician remarked. She is now enrolled at the Royal Academy of Music, and added that "everyone should have the opportunity" to develop their musical skills.

Generations Gathering

Her younger sibling Eliza, aged 11, who plays the euphonium, will also be at the Abbey. "I never imagined I would perform in front of so many notable figures," she said.

Attending the service will be representatives of different generations.

That will encompass young Saphia Turner, nine, winner of a prize for youthful altruism, who creates and sells art and completes fundraising tasks to collect donations for local food charities.

Seasonal Ambiance and Entertainment

The Abbey has been festooned with specially made wreaths, with well-known chef Mary Berry and flower expert Simon Lycett assisting in their creation.

Taking to the stage will be Katie Melua, the Abbey's own choir and a Cornish sea shanty group, the Fisherman's Friends, who said the invitation to sing was "a dream come true."

The festive event titled 'Together at Christmas' will be televised and shown on ITV1 on Christmas Eve.
