Ex- Doctor Faces Sexual Assault Charges Involving 38 Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have stated that a former doctor stands accused of performing sexual assaults against thirty-eight victims who were under his care.
The Grave Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous acts of sexual assault – including acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
A senior CPS official stated, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
These allegations follow what police called a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Charges
The charging documents said the 45 sexual offences include:
- 15 counts of assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
