Dallas Cowboys Player Kneeland Dies at Age 24
Marshawn Kneeland was the 56th overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft
Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Marshawn Kneeland has died at the age of 24.
Kneeland was drafted by the Cowboys in the second round in the 2024 NFL Draft and played 18 times for the team, including four starts.
He recorded his initial touchdown in Tuesday's defeat to the Arizona Cardinals when he retrieved a blocked punt.
"He was a cherished team member and member of our organisation," the Dallas Cowboys said.
"We send our condolences regarding Marshawn are with his partner Catalina and his loved ones."
Kneeland was selected by Dallas with the 56th overall pick of the 2024 draft after his college career for Western Michigan.
His agent, Jonathan Perzley, said his "heart aches" for the loss of the athlete who "poured his heart" into each opportunity.
"I saw him strive his way from a hopeful kid at Western Michigan with a goal to being a respected professional for the Dallas Cowboys," Perzley said.
The NFL said it is "deeply saddened" by the tragic event.
