Brian Eno Calls On Backing to Get Palestinian Solidarity Lullaby to UK Christmas No 1.

A fundraising initiative is aiming to send a cultural melody to the top of the UK charts. The campaign aims to send support to people in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian cultural expression.

A Possibility for Unity and an "Surprise Victory"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a opportunity to stand with Palestinians this festive season. He acknowledged the potential for an unexpected chart success.

“That would be amazing if that happened, yes,” he commented. “I won't be completely let down if it doesn’t, holiday tracks are a unique phenomenon.”

Resilient Spirit of Dignity and Freedom

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the reimagining of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's resilient spirit.

“It has a very special place for countless listeners,” Barghouti said. “The essence is that I would choose to perish with honor than live a life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we desire to exist a respectful existence that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Track's Background and Star-Studded Lineup

The track was produced in the wake of a major charity concert held in September. Originally intended to be done as a live recording, the performance was omitted from the lengthy event due to the event running long.

The diverse array of musicians featured on Lullaby includes a selection of prominent voices from the industry. All were part of the earlier concert, which reportedly raised a substantial amount for relief efforts.

Production and Release

Lullaby was crafted by a team of producers and composers. The track blends a fusion of the heritage language with freshly written English words.

The organizers behind the project have clarified that their objective is to raise as much as possible for a charitable pot. These donations will be channeled to projects in Palestine through an established charity.

“We haven't set a specific target,” a figure explained. “We aim for the maximum achievable. Of course, the more the merrier. Every penny goes out to Gaza.”

The context in the region was characterized as its widespread damage, with a overwhelming percentage of buildings reportedly in ruins or severely impacted.

“Given that reality, a few million won't make a massive dent. But I think the significant factor is first of all raising awareness for this issue and showing the human dimension of the story.”

The song is set to be released at the end of the week. Additionally, a video of the solidarity show will be made accessible to view on a major video platform from mid-December.
